Geng is a Phd student under the supervision of Frederic Dias. Sponsered by the Chinese Scholarship, he joined the Wave Group in September 2017. His research project focues on numerical modelling of wave-structure interactions.

He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong Univerisity (SJTU) with a master’s degree in fluid mechanics, currently maintaining a close collaboration with his former superviser. A series of experiments has been conducted in the wave laboratory in SJTU. An in-house boundary element code has been parallelized to do the modelling.

He is also interested in the effect of wave breaking force on coastal structures. An open-source hydrodynamic software called REEF3D is well suited to this purpose and will be used on high-end computing centre.
